High Environmental Value HVE

Since 2019, our operation has been HVE certified "High Environmental Value". We reason our viticultural practices in order to best respect our environment and the planet.

High environmental value (HEV) corresponds to the highest level of a more general scheme of environmental certification for farms. The farm environmental certification is a voluntary approach which aims to identify and promote particularly environmentally-friendly practices applied by farmers. HEV covers four key areas: biodiversity conservation, plant protection strategy, management of fertiliser use and management of water.

Haute Valeur Environnementale

An environmental impact assessment undertaken by the entire Champagne industry in the early 2000s identified four key areas for action:

  • control of inputs and their potential impact on health and the environment,
  • preservation and enhancement of terroirs, biodiversity and landscapes,
  • accountable management of water, wastewater, by-products and waste,
  • the need to address the energy/climate challenge.
